Better School??
It seems pretty certain that i will get into both Duke and UNC (mabye u. Penn or vy League schools). If I am accepted into only duke and UNC which school should I go to? UNC's Kenan-Flagler undergrad b-school is top 5, but Duke's overall ranking is higher. Would going to Duke undergrad make my chances of getting into Fuqua better later?
Duke, no question.
k thx
yeah duke no doubt, dont think twice.
Duke. Who the hell would wanna be a Tar Heel? No thanks.
duke
Duke. UNC's undergrad. b-school program is def. not Top 5 btw.
duke by a long shot.
what makes you think duke is certain though whereas penn and other ivies aren't- I know duke is big on alumni advantage?
BTW, if you go to Duke and take the right opportunities then Duke Fuqua will be too crappy for you. Duke undergrad >> Duke MBA in a sense.
Without turning this into a Duke-UNC debate, which is always fun, I just wanted to offer a different perspective. Assuming that you're interestd in a career in IB/ER/S&T at a BB, both schools will set you up just fine. The important thing is to do a good job once you get to school. A standout student at UNC's Kenan-Flagler will have a much better chance of lining up internships and jobs than an average one at Duke. There are more things to consider though...UNC is more of a "college town" and offers what I believe is a much better social atmosphere. The main difference is that at Duke you'll likely major in Econ if interested in finance jobs, while at UNC you can enter Kenan-Flagler. KF will offer more relevant coursework compared to simply econ classes...plus, if you are interested in Econ too then you can always double major. Getting into KF is no walk in the park though (avg. GPA ~3.6). I'll admit that I'm biased towards UNC. I'm a Senior in Kenan-Flagler with a nice job lined up for next year. Combine that with the college town and I vote for UNC every time. Feel free to email me with any questions though...most people on here are probably not from the south and know nothing about UNC anyways...except for the fact that we dominate Dook in bball.
Go where that white-boy Shane Battier went!
Lmao. Go to Duke
This isn't even a contest. Seriously. If you were talking Wharton, Ross or Stern, then yeah this would be a legit question.
Go to Duke
I'd probably go to Duke, but if you absolutely love the UNC atmosphere and feel like you'd go crazy at Duke and it's smaller campus, then go to UNC. Like bigstacks said, you're going to get offers if you go to Kenan-Flagler and perform well in their program. At Duke though you have a bit more room for error. If you have a 3.5-3.6 GPA at Duke vs. UNC it's a lot easier to get an offer going to school at the former.
