Biding My Time....Any Insight????

So I graduated early from a non-target (but top east coast school nonetheless) in December with two summers of experience at different BBs. My experiences have been within the private client/private investment/high net worth arena, however, seeing as how I am young and full of ambition, these work environments are rather mundane.

Currently, I am spending time at a very large investment manager studying for the 7 & 66 because the opportunity landed in my lap, but ideally I want to get exposure to modeling, analzying, valluation, etc...

However, I am uncomfortable with the situation because I feel like I might be missing the proverbial boat.

Does anyone have any insight how to position myself, where to look, other industries/sectors that I would be able to gain transferable modeling and valuation skills into the banking/M&A/valuation arena???

Any and all suggestions are welcomed.
