Big 4 corporate finance FT to Credit Research internship
Hi guys,
The title speaks for itself..I'm just wondering what you would do in my position. I'm working in corporate finance (full time position) and enjoying it... however I've always wanted to work in research.
I've received an offer for a 1 year internship as "credit research analyst" at a top French bank (think BNP, CA, SG). The internship is well paid and it's in London (whereas as I am currently working in a secondary European city..).
The description of the internship duties is the following (I will be covering covered bonds issued by banks):
Ø Support the creation of current publications / presentations
Ø Support the creation of new publications
Ø Keep data bases up to date and if possible expand on / improve / make more efficient the existing Excel based databases
Ø Assist internal clients regarding questions on the covered bond market
Do you think it's reasonable to leave the FT position in CF for an internship? And for those of you in research (credit or equity), is this a ligit credit research internship/solid experience?
Thanks in advance!
Uhh you will want to make sure you are actually doing research and not just compiling powerpoints and printouts of other people's research.
The description you gave doesn't sound like a bona fide Research position.
Are you ACA/ACCA/CFA qualified? If so you should be able to get a FT credit role with a Big 4 profile. If you're looking to break in I would look at the ratings agencies, all three have openings in London and Frankfurt and they would likely be interested in your skillset. I wouldn't leave a full time job for an internship, but that's my 2 eurocents!
