BlackRock in Budapest vs HSBC in London vs Argus (Quant Data Scientist)

Hi All -

  • I have offers from the following for Data Scientist/Quant Data scientist and Innovation in Quant in HSBC London, Argus Media and BlackRock Budapest offices, Client Solutions. The main contenders in my head is HSBC vs BlackRock for career trajectory: I'm interested in Algo Trading Quant methods in Hedge Funds, more so than investment banks.

  • If the BlackRock role was in London would not hesitate, however there (seemly) is a negative stigma associated with Quants in Hungary (like IT professionals in India - cheap outsourcing), and the pay the much lower than London.

  • I have an "Ivy League" PhD in Sciences and a Postdoc in Machine learning, some Quant/Data science experience but no big names on my resume (so far). 2016 grad.

  • I got accepted and negotiated the perfect role at UBS before if froze, my dream would be CS but no luck so far. The Argus offer is an amazing job - but not in actual HF or IB but in pricing.

  • What say you?
