BMO Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate vs. EY Capital Markets, Real Estate Investment Banking
Let me start off by saying that I do not have an offer from either of these groups, this is strictly informational. I am in the early stages of researching potential opportunities. If anyone has experience from either working for or with these groups I would love to hear your opinion. These are of course two completely different avenues, one of which is in the commercial lending space while the other is in the "IB", but really advisory space since they don't have their own balance sheet. I would like to stay in the realm of commercial real estate since my background primarily consists of REIT experience. With my career still in its infancy and the market starting to be a bit too hostile for REITs to play in, I figure that now is the best time to branch out and gain experience outside of my acquisition/disposition role. Any input is much appreciated.
