BNY Mellon phone interview - off cycle

Hey guys,

I have an interview with BNY recruiters coming up and want to know what to expect, what groups are strong etc. I got this interview by networking with an exec who passed my résumé along so its not for a specific position which clouds things a bit. Any Ideas on what they may ask outside of my interest and the basic fit questions?

Although they're a custodian bank, I know they're strong in AM and DCM. Any other insights?

Lastly, I know they send a lot of their analyst level hires to Pittsburgh, which I'd like to avoid at all costs. Staying in the NY/NJ/CT area is a huge issue for me. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can handle this topic coming up in the interview without coming off as smug or inflexible I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks

You probably want to be in Global Markets, which comprises FX Trading & Cap Markets. Lucky for you, this office is in NY.

Thanks. I knew they had the Global Markets group I just wasn't sure if it was in NYC or Pittsburgh. I'll be aiming for DCM or Syndicates

Both of those would fall under cap markets, which is in NY. You may find the following page helpful (note the cap markets breakdown in the left pane): http://www.bnymellon.com/globalmarkets/capitalmarkets.html

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking, are you working or have worked at BNY? Just curious. I understand if you don't want to answer this question

Neither.. I've just gone through recruiting before, and I have a good memory for these things.
