BofA coverage groups
See a lot of comments on this website that mention that BofA coverage groups don't do any modelling? I find this heard to believe cause I know at JPM coverage does do modelling despite having a large M&A team. Could any current Bofa coverage analysrs speak to this?
Hi - not a coverage analyst but this might be in reference to a recent comment I made so I'll throw down some clarification before my BofA coverage colleagues opinine on their experiences.
What I was refering to was that on my deal teams I would do all the valuation, structure, and acc / dil modeling for processes that the M&A group was involved with (for any deal that I worked on for the last two years with only one real exception).
Coverage teams are often very involved in building operating models with the company (if they don't have one / though there was one instance in which I did this on the M&A side), working on models related to debt / equity offerings, or working on models that are specifically related to more niche industries.
Additionally, coverage teams will sometimes do the modeling when math is needed for pitches and no one has involved the M&A team or a senior banker in M&A is not involved in the pitch itself.
Hope this is helpful.
