Bold Stripe Suit
What are the rules for wearing a bold stripe suit? I've heard that there are certain do's and don't's for wearing a bold stripe suit.
Any advice?

funny you ask, I just bought this suit when brooks brothers was having a extra discount sale. I got it 58% off retail so I'm not complaining.

Bold stripe suits call for discreetly patterned shirts and ties. And always tip the stylist 15%
The safest bet with bold stripes is not purchasing them at all. Most people I know who own these can't pull them off (but think they can). I personally can't pull them off.
If you really want them though, as said above wear with subtle pattern shirts and ties. I personally find that bold stripes look much more fashionable when the suit has a more aggressive trim to it. If you wear traditional Amercian fit then I would seriously reconsider.
At what level of the investment banking feudal hierarchy can one start wearing bold stripes suits, with discreetly patterned shirts and ties of course.
+1. I was actually thinking this when I clicked on the link.
A very subtle self striped pin stripe is fine when you're starting out, but chalk stripes are generally saved for higher in the food chain.
I think it would be a poor choice to have a bold striped suit as your only suit, or your only suit of a certain color. However, if you already have a decent navy suit and can spare the cash, I recommend the Plain Chalk Stripe navy suit at Brooks Brothers. Wear it with a solid white/light blue shirt a subtly patterned or solid tie, and you'll be balls deep in the HR intern by lunchtime.
I tried to post a link, but the spam filter is being a little bitch.
