Bonus in M&A Boutiques: % of fee revenue or # of salaries?
Hello there,
I currently work at a Brazilian M&A boutique (middle-market deals) and was wondering about something.. I've heard from friends of mine that work in a similar boutique, that at their firm their bonus are based on % of the project revenue, like as of 5%. So if they actively participate in a deal (and they are just associates), and that deal brings 1MM to the boutique, 5% of that is given as bonus. Is that common in the U.S.? Or the bonus are usually calculated in terms of number of salaries? I know that in large BB banks, bonus compensation are based on salary numbers (I suppose for better control and proportional distribution throughout the staff hierarchy).
If anyone could enlighten that up, It'd be much appreciated :)
Thanks!
