Bonus Stub - how much is too much to leave on the table
I switched from the SS to the BS in June of 2021 and when I negotiated BS comp I didn't say anything about wanting to be made whole for the bonus I was leaving behind. The comp negotiations consisted of me telling them the total compensation range my bank was going to pay me for 2021 and them matching the number--but that would be with a pro-rata bonus, right?
Kind of a moronic move by me because I left an amount equal to 20% of my total annual comp on the table. I was just so done with my old job and grateful to receive the offer that I didn't think things through. Live an learn I guess.
Personally I wouldn’t have switched for equal comp to begin with as like BS hours are much more demanding.
In any case I suggest you just reach out and ask if anything can be done in terms of the bonus but I wouldn’t be too pushy as you’ve said the terms have been set for quite a while now.
