Books for Macro Economic Perspective
Hey, you guys I'm looking for book suggestions that will me help gain a better macroeconomic perspective. I get a copy of the WSJ journal daily and try to read it with breakfast if I have time. However I've been having trouble connecting the dots. Such as relationship of the 10-year note to corporate debt. But every time I read I have more questions than answers and I feel like I'm missing something. Some examples.
- Tech: Dropbox IPO, Intels possible bid on Qualcom. Snapchat cutting jobs
- What are the broader implications? Why does this sector seem acquisition-happy at the moment?
- Credit: Subprime auto loans has been in the news a lot recently. Movements in Bond market
- What is the significance of various yield benchmarks? Is there any indicators as to what is driving junk auto loans?
- Oil and Gas: "Saudis curbing output" or Shale technology companies being acquired Shale being "overestimated"
- How does this affect WTI Futures and why is that important? Why has the price stayed in a 10 dollar range?
Does this affect shipping aerospace and industrials? what about the dollar?
I don't want all of these questions answered but I try to read up on the market and often just get left confused.
Two things that have helped a bit is Thomas Sowells Basic Economics and The Wisdom of Finance by Mihir Desai.
So here's my question to you. How do I make sense of some of this news without spending hours a day on it? Of course, book suggestions to improve my "big picture". Thanks!
