Books to prepare for switch from M&A to PE
Can anyone recommend some books for making the switch from M&A to PE? I find that I'm getting interest from PE firms because of my M&A experience but when I have an interview I don't know enough about PE to get the job, specifically LBOs. I was looking at buying Investment Banking: Valuation, Leveraged Buyouts, and Mergers and Acquisitions by Joshua Rosenbaum but would love any input.
Thanks in advance
That's a great book. Also recommend the WSO guide.
Private Equity in Action is honestly a decent book. There are a few of them. All kinda case study books and exposing you to some different concepts
I would get the following:
1. International Private Equity by Vasvari and Talmor (comprehensive on any PE style investment)
2. Applied Mergers and Acquisitions by Bruner (this would be a nice bridge between your M&A experience and PE. I am in PE but I think this is one of the best finance books of all time)
3. What It Takes by Schwarzman (not exactly is going to prepare you for a case study, but gives you a sense of some of the personalities that there are out there in PE and immense ambition of the industry's veterans. Easy to read, as co-written by a finance journalist)
