Boston College MSF Avg Salary=75k, Avg GMAT=664...Why?

Why are the average starting salaries of BC MSF grads so high compared to other MSF programs (Villanova, Olin, Vanderbilt) with higher average gmat scores?

ANT may know better, but I believe BC MSF students are already working professionals with more work experience, hence a higher expected salary coming out.

My name is Nicky, but you can call me Dre.

bearing:
Sucks to be the guy who got a masters and only makes 45,000 after graduation.

A lot of my classmates are going to super non targets for grad, with no prior work experience. I told them they're wasting their time and money but they don't listen

1) Many people going to MSF programs did their UG's at schools without even F500 recruiting. For those who do an MSF and then go into F500, yeah, some might make $45K base, about as much as 50% of Americans make overall (not bad for starting out), but once you get some experience in F500 they usually consider an MSF to be equal to an MBA. By the time you get ready for promotion you will already have the grad degree. All that and a free option for FO finance type jobs also.

2) BC's program is at night an attracts lots of working professionals and job switchers. These individuals can skew the salary stats.

Besides, banking salaries are ~$70K base and if you figure many students go to MM shops or places outside NYC where base come can be in the $60-65K range you can have a class full of FO placements and still have a lower starting salary than BC.

BC is a great program, but starting salary shouldn't be the only thing people use to make a decision.
