Break into IB through MSF program without IB internship experience?
Hi everyone, I saw people asking whether their MSF program can help them break into FO IB. However, MSF programs are normally one year long. Are those people already get an IB Internship before their MSF or they are talking about IB full-time job? I don't think they have enough time to get an intern within the one-year program and I heard that IB normally hire people from their intern pool.
What're your thoughts about this question?
Same question.
I have accepted my SMU offer over the Rochester one and have been invited for an interview from Duke as well. Baruch will respond in a week and I haven't heard back from WUSTL or BU. Vandy rejected me.
I feel like Duke would be my best bet at IB if I get in. Need input.
I accepted my SMU offer as well. I am still waiting for BC and Duke. Are you applying for MMS?
That's great. Nope, MQM. Did they invite you for interview?
I haven't heard back from Duke. Vandy and UT rejected me. I have been invited for an interview from Cornell MPS Accounting and will hear back in a week. How do you think about SMU? Why did you choose SMU over the Rochester?
I chose SMU over Rochester even though Rochester gave me a 60% scholarship because I spoke to a bunch on SMU and Rochester current and recent MSF graduates and the general consensus was that it is easier to find jobs in Dallas/Houston from SMU than it is to find a job in NYC from Rochester. NYC already has a lot of competition and Rochester is a 7hr bus ride to NYC. Rochester (the city) itself doesn't have any market. On the other hand, I felt SMU undergrads have done amazingly well in the IB market recently so networking with those students should help. SMU alumni were also extremely helpful. On top of that, no international rochester graduate told me it was was a good idea to come to rochester. So yeah... What about you? Why did you accept SMU?
It depends on school. At some schools, the candidates with strong undergrad (high GPA, decent school, etc.) are able to recruit with undergrads (if the school is a semi target). Others land an IB internship at a local boutique, build experience and then head to a MM after graduation.
Ut saepe provident qui nulla et. Quidem omnis et aut et quia assumenda sunt. Quos est est optio at omnis earum dolores.
