Breaking into finance from economics!! Finance degree or APPLYING APPLYING APPLYING ??
Hi guys!
My story in few lines:
- BA in Economics + MSc in Economics (earned last month, at Bocconi University, which is among the top schools in Europe)
- lots of exams in macro, micro and other quantitative stuff
- little focus on financial statements and other corporate stuff
- grade 106/110 (which is a 2:1 in terms of UK grading system)
- two internships done during my 2-year master:
--1) European Commission
--2) Economic Section of the Embassy of Italy in Germany.
- Currently doing a third internship in the researches and studies center of a leading Italian bank
You see that my background is very focused on macroeconomics and I did that cause I wanted to pursue a PhD. However, on the way, I changed my mind and I am becoming aware of my interest in finance. Maybe, equity research or sales and trading. Private equity could be challenging as well.
I admit that I DO NOT KNOW many things about finance. I have covered / I am covering some gaps on the way but many gaps still remain.
Now the question: should I pursue another master (I was thinking to a one-year program in the UK) or do you think I could apply and get a job in the fields I mentioned?
Situation is clear. I like these fields cause I am interested in them but also cause they are quite well remunerated. So I would like an answer also in the light of this point.
Have a nice days you all and greeting from a cloudy Milan! :)
