Breaking into IB from Canada with only commercial banking exp.

Hello all, I am in second year and currently go to a Canadian University with hopes of attending its business school next year. This school offers an accelerated, 2 year undergraduate degree and is currently my best bet to being exposed to IB. The school has an insane Alumni network and is a place that many recruiters go to. However, after doing some research and looking around, I've found that there are some students who will be attending it next year that already have IB experience at relatively small, local firms. The most I can offer is being a bank teller at TD. How can I differentiate myself and make myself look appealing to recruiters? I'm not looking at getting to Wall Street right away, but that is probably the end goal, potentially through a transfer. I know I can get the grades required but at the end of the day nothing beats experience and a part of me feels like it's a little bit too late.

Being a Bank teller is not considered commercial banking that would be business / retail banking.

I know people who went from business banking to commercial banking. I know many people who went from commercial banking to IB (M&A and risk positions) at a B.B. business banking experience to IB I have not heard of
