Breaking into Wallstreet - eventually too much
Hi,
Some of you already shared their helpful insights in the BIWS-Courses. But has anyone actually really worked his way through the Materials from start to end?
I am on the brink of purchasing BIWS-Premium Package, but am a little intimidated to be honest. It contains of 440 Videos and it will obviously not be done with just watching those. Don`t get me wrong, I am not searching for an "easy way", but am unsure, if its realistic to work through it at all.
If anyone of you has completed one of the courses and could share some rough estimates on how much time will be needed that would be a huge help.
Cheers
It's designed to be flexible to not require going from start to finish all the way through. I found it more useful to fill in knowledge gaps in specific areas, e.g. you want to do an Excel refresher course on some advanced functions, then skip to LBO modelling.
Use macabacus or some other free shit. Stop paying for mediocre modeling guides. It's nonsense
Take my advice with a grain of salt, I had bought it 5 years ago when it was much cheaper (and the internet lacked a lot of this free content), but found the BIWS content useful. Brian does a good job walking through the materials on video and works hard to update them to be timely. I'm not getting any benefit from the site (paid full price, not fake news), just a long time reader and one-time customer.
i second using macabacus... pretty good imo
Could you link a modeling course they have? I've only found articles.
Chances are as an intern you won't be doing any/much modeling at all, so technically no course is too relevant. What I found useful was that if you are on the job though as a FT or maybe you need to do comps or formatting or even something obscure, BIWS has it covered and you can watch their vid for a pretty detailed explanation of how to do it.
Entire course does seem a bit overkill though but if you have the money, I think its a good resource to have.
Yeah that's BS - you'll learn all that stuff in training / the group-specific way your group does it. Not through some bullshit overly expensive program. @Detox15 - aren't you a student? In which case you don't actually know what the real job is like... thx.
BIWS Completion in Three Months - Possible? (Originally Posted: 03/19/2016)
Dear WSO,
I'm Economics BS major from Penn State. I find Economics a great asset as I am a huge fan of Global Macro approach. However, I lack the edge many Finance majors seem to have - Modeling and excel. So I decided to supplement that by purchasing BIWS Premium. I already am familiar to core idea of valuation/corporate finance/etc.
Starting this summer, I plan on getting certified in three months before I enlist in the army. Has anybody completed BIWS in three months?
Thank you.
Yes, this is very possible. How many hours do you plan on doing a day?
