Brown Shoes for NY IB Networking

Hi All,

I was wondering if brown shows are okay with gray suit and semi causal shirt (small checks) for networking with bankers (grabbing coffee or drink). I will be in NY for training and that is the dress code for the firm I am training with and I wont have too much time to change so I am wondering if the outfit I described above is appropriate.

If you are fine with people thinking you work in the back office, then yes it is appropriate.

Don't say this in a banking interview:

Which superhero would you be and why? I want to be like Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor - me.

I'm also wondering about brown blazers.

It depends on the bank, the city and the group. Traditionally this was a grey or blue suit with a white or blue shirt and black shoes industry. Some are getting more casual.

My roommate over the summer was at a top boutique in NYC and never deviated from this advice. I believe there were a few in his group that were able to show a bit of pizzazz (different shoes, colored socks and a pocket square for instance) but you'd better nail the look or you'll come off as a jackass (this is true for anywhere, really).
