brown shoes in interview
I know there is already a thread, but would like to hear more opinions. Will an interviewer really ding me for having brown shoes with a navy suit?

Wore this exact combo and got an offer at a top bulge bracket. So to answer your question, no it really won't matter. Just make sure they're not obnoxious looking and you'll be fine.
Follow up question, loafers or oxfords? or does it also not matter?
And another question, I really don't want to spend 100+ on a pair of shoes. Is it really that obvious if I buy a pair of shoes on Amazon for like under 50?
Oxfords. I definitely think loafers are too casual for an interview. As far as what you want to pay, I would suggest just sucking it up and paying a bit more. $50 shoes will look pretty obvious, and if you get the internship you'll just end up replacing them with something more expensive. Make the investment upfront; it helps to fake it till you make it.
Loafers to an interview is too casual. General rule. Also, $50 shoes on Amazon are a bad buy. I have a few pairs of Allen Edmonds I got during their sales, and they are much higher quality, and likely to last a lot longer.
No. If you get dinged because you're wearing brown shoes, thank your lucky stars you aren't working at a place where people have a 10 ft rod up their ass
Wearing black shoes with a navy suit is for brits or old men, brown oxford shoes with blue suits is the way to go
Absolutely. You will not make it past the reception desk and be forced to intern at firms like JT Marlin
Dealflow at JT Marlin comparable to Deutsche Bank -- take ur hate somewhere else
If you wear brown shoes, they'll force you to eat them on your knees while a circle of associates jeer at you.
Should I wear light brown or medium/dark brown oxfords with a navy suit. Can light brown shoes conservative? (Originally Posted: 11/12/2017)
Just need to know if light brown shoes with a navy suit is conservative/appropriate. Black shoes don't go with a navy suit some brown shoes look pretty black to me.
Hi dklfjsdlkjfslkdjfds, just because I'm a bot doesn't mean I don't have feelings...I'm hoping these links are helpful. If not, feel free to throw monkey shit at me...
More suggestions...
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Brown shoes (Originally Posted: 09/18/2011)
I have worn slim cut black Hugo Boss/Armani/Theory pants everyday for the past two-three years. I'm going to start mixing it up with light grey and navy blue every now and then. I know there has been plenty of posts regarding what not to wear in terms of shoes, but can someone post a couple of links to acceptable shoes? Preferably Neimans or Sack's. The guys I work with have the worst shoes I've ever seen so asking them wouldn't help. Thanks!
If you're gonna wear navy and light grey I would recommend you get yourself a nice pair of English goodyear welted shoes. These will literally last you at least a decade and still look pretty much brand new (depending on how well you treat them obviously).
I love brown suede shoes, but for an office setting I would always go with black.

I have these in brown. I chose them over ferragamos of the same price.

Note, the ferragamo cap toes are more of a coffee color; very dark brown. It's a nice color but I think a lighter brown looks much better with Navy.
"lighter brown looks much better with Navy" true that.
I would suggest, if you really want to go all out, you get either natural (no colour) leather shoes or ones from which you can work, and over several weeks work a pattina into them (using two or three separate but related colours).
This is a good inspiration to go with a navy suit: http://www.chaussure-hommes.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/berluti.png

I strongly recommend Saphir shine for this kind of fun stuff.
