Brown vs Duke Undergrad
Hey everyone, I'm a current high school senior, and I've been accepted into both Brown and Duke recently. I'm planning on majoring in Economics with probably Applied Math at Brown and maybe with Stats or Comp Sci at Duke. I'm overall interested in investment banking and consulting related fields. I'm pretty fond of both schools, and I am having trouble choosing one over the other. Does either have a significant advantage recruiting wise? If recruiting is similar between the two schools, should recruiting even be a major factor in my college decision? Thanks everyone! I appreciate any advice!
both good
Both good. Brown may be slightly better on the academics. Brown is a bit closer for NYC recruiting. It's still driving distance from NYC.
If you enjoy drinking, go to Duke; if you enjoy smoking certain substances, go to Brown.
When the fuck did WSO become College Confidential?
When high schoolers and college kids outnumbered actual professionals 1000:1.
Hey A$$H@T, you still work in finance now???? That's what I thought, now go suck off your boss!

There are about five threads asking "this school or that school?"
College confidential!
Definitely go with Duke and you'll have a much better time there. Duke is also more of a target school.
Nobody else got the e-mail? Effective April 1st the site is being re-branded "College Oasis."
I think you're better off going with Duke if you're interested in Wall Street.
I think ITT Tech would be the better call.
Unless you really think someone on a thread is going to say something so profound that it is going to make your college decision for you, this exercise is a complete waste of time. Duke and Brown are obviously both great schools. Its a matter of personal preference.
Duke has infinitely more porn stars, something to keep in mind.
These threads are annoying because you need to figure out what you want out of college and the kind of person you are. Both schools are very good and will give you countless recruiting opportunities if you do well there. Visit both schools and see which one fits better. I go to UNC, so I guess I'm a little biased, but I would go to Brown if I were you. The Duke kids seem to be stressed fairly often and I don't get the sense that is the case at Brown, where you can Pass/Fail courses (I have friends at both schools).
Honestly though, visit and figure out the sort of environment you want to be in. Durham is really dead and not the most fun place to hang out. Heck, Chapel Hill can get boring too sometimes. Brown is 45 minutes from Boston and in a more urban location.
