Bulge Bracket or Data-driven sell-side Equity Research

Hey all,

I had a pretty interesting interview over lunch today. It was with a boutique sell-side equity research shop that is MUCH less focused on the fundamental side of things and MUCH more focused on analyzing large data sets. The company has JV agreements with a TON of data providers and also has their own proprietary data that they utilize. They have it drilled down to the point where if a consumer walks into a store (and has a cell phone), they can tell what age the person is, where they are shopping, how much they spent, etc. (kinda scary stuff actually).

In any event, as a current sell-sider at a Bulge Bracket, who is ultimately looking to move to the buy-side, I wonder if a move to a company like this would help my resume and my overall "saleability" or not. I've been here for just over 1 year, cover retail, am a CFA Level III candidate. What do you guys think?
