"In the high-intensity world of mergers, acquisitions, and IPOs, a young female investment banker (Jessika Van, CBS's "Rush Hour") confronts the patriarchy in the frat house of Wall Street."
Yeah, no
Lmao that sounds terrible
S01E01: Recent b-school graduate Cathy Lee manages to sneak into an associate position at the prestigious Boldwyn Brothers investment bank thanks to an affirmative action program, where she discovers that her new boss has a penchant for late-night PowerPoint sessions, and her co-workers are actually gonna judge her based on her competency.
S01E02 - Finale: While her colleagues spar over the pecking order, Cathy is overwhelmed by the responsibility of finding the best font size for the firm’s pitch to run the IPO of Macrotech, a hot tech company they are courting against rival banks. This life-changing experience will lead a burned-out Cathy to quit her dream job and become an Instagram influencer.
I had to confirm these episode descriptions weren't real.
Sounds like a Suits show in the making except this time instead of starting off decent, this show will skip to the dogshit known as season 4 instead of waiting a few years.
Haha. This is gold.
watched the first episode and thought this
Lol that sounds awful
Thinking about watching it to prep for my internship.
I can not stress this enough - DO NOT DO THAT.
Is the show really that bad?
Nope please don’t...
HAHAHA
Watched the first 3 mins of this and oh my fuck.... just watch it for yourself.
Starts off with a group head screaming his head off at some FTers who failed the S79... like wtf
Haha on my team we just jokingly shit on anyone who fails an exam for about a day (everyone, analyst to MD) and then back to business as usual. It's actually pretty fun and something I kind of look forward to.
The amazon reviews are really good and some former IB analysts are even saying its accurate... not sure what to believe lmao
paid reviews are a thing
I started watching the 1 minute trailer on YouTube and didn't even bother to finish it. Lame AF.
Lmaooo acting looks so shit
Don't even bother watching this fake media driven depiction of IB
FAKENEWS
Terrible. I got about 5 mins in and had to turn it off.
Seems like a show my mom would watch
Lol watched half of the first episode and it was worse than I even expected it to be
Surely this is a purposely satirical representation? I mean, the trailer basically screams C-list.
Pretty sure that’s the point but hardo’s are taking it a bit too serious
Looks like the entire show is just six episodes (10-15 mins each). Might actually consider watching it if I have an hour to kill lol.
Though yes, based on the trailer, this is extremely exaggerated.
Investment bankers? Lame. A show about IB? No difference.
Maybe if the main character was hot
Mmmmmm another show for non-target kids to jerk off to
^ this >>>>
.
I will guarantee you all that in the next few weeks, we will see some high school or college kid sincerely ask WSO if the show is actually what IB is like.
We're going to have to add this to the list (along with shows like Wolf of WS and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps) of shows that "inspire" people to become bankers.
if they're gonna make a shitty show about what the media thinks IB is, and center it all around the main character being a woman and "SmAsHinG tHe PaTriArChY", the LEAST they could have done is make the main character hot. Or hell, at least somewhat pleasing on the eye.
After many months in quarantine, I’d tap
This comment is exactly why main street perception of Wall Street is a patriarchal frat house
agreed, and many fail to see the irony.
tried to finish the first episode but i got a seizure from cringing too hard
Just from watching the trailer I can tell it’s meant to be satirical/outrageously trash. You guys should loosen up a bit and maybe and y’know L A U G H?
Yeah, I watched the first episode and actually thought it was pretty funny lol.

i thought the whole mark ups, turning decks, printing stuff and working on useless pitch books that no one ends up reading seemed quite accurate. don't care for the whole "taking down the patriarchy" angle but did find it interesting that the whole leadership of the TMT group was minority. But then again the asshole MD had a redeeming arc and the white clients turned out total douches so i guess not surprising.
All we want is a spin off from Suits about the Sidewell Investment Group.
Billions is similar enough, no?
First 2 seasons were decent as things go, but I stopped watching after Season 5 Ep 3.
watch Succession. Great show.
Absolutely! Waiting for Season 3 after an incredible Season 2 Finale!
why?
This must be how lawyers feel about Suits
Just watched it now and found it to be pretty funny and somewhat accurate. Gave me PTSD for sure.
Yup, agreed. Definitely was exaggerated, but there were enough specific references to IB in their jokes and words that you could tell that actual bankers were consulted when creating this show.
I found the main character's subplot about deciding to do IB to be the most fascinating more than anything else. Considering the first season was a little more than an hour long, I would actually be interested in seeing another season.
yeah i mean how could you not like things like making fun of DCM, plugging random assumptions to back solve for desired answers in model oh and "SHIFT+8? IS THAT A SHORT CUT I NEED TO KNOW?"
guys chill out. its like 1h tops for whole season if you fast forward the intros etc. its pretty funny. its the supporting cast of analysts who make it enjoyable imo rather than the patriarchy taking down associate.
13 five star reviews what the fuck
Watched the first episode and the show seems terrible. Hints of being accurate, but a joke overall and the acting is subpar at best.
After reading these comments and watching half of the first episode, it was even worse than I expected.
it’s like Mrs.Dow Jones wrote this show only based off of what shes seen through finmeme accounts
Hey man, they’re at least trying to make banking sexy again (at least I hope). So kudos to amazon
All the analysts wear ties and jackets all day...
I would love to talk with the creators of the show about what research they did about the industry and why they made some of these narrative decisions.
[]
I mean its not supposed to be a documentary lol
IDK where everyone's sense of humor went but I got some good laughs out of it. It's 13min micro content and not meant to be taken seriously (for those of you who didn't catch that...).
Goldberg reminds me of a buddy of mine and had me laughin' quite a bit.
lmao this board is full of the most insecure pussies I’ve ever seen on the internet
Major cringe.
Where can you watch it if outside of the U.S.? I have Amazon prime. tried purchasing the 1st episode but it won’t let me.
dont purchase this man.
Binged the entire thing, thought it was great. Came in thinking it was gonna just be some cringe SJW BS, but the cast is good and there were some funny moments. Danny is my favorite, and I love that they included the typical rich/well-connected thot that always somehow ends up in a prestigious position.
I never wanted to watch a show less
Okay I’ve just watched the pilot and it really is that bad but ngl I laughed at the reference to the Good Will Hunting when Steve got fired.
Accurate depictions of IB/PE doesn't work for good TV/movie entertainment; it needs an interesting twist, e.g. American Psycho Murders and Executions. It's easier to write good scripts/dialogue of the drama that happens in hedge funds (Billions), sales & trading (Wall Street, Wolf of Wall Street).
On the other hand, I love House of Cards and there's bits of accurate management consulting so I dunno maybe it just depends on the lead actors and the creative team producing it.
Doubt even HBO will make me want to watch Lena Dunham as an investment banker though...
The actor who plays the MD definitely watched the Wolf of Wall Street before his scenes.
Just watched it, honestly they’re probably better off just serializing Leveraged Sellout.
Some parts are accurate but the production value felt off for me. Very hard to believe that a BB would be pitching a huge IPO with one MD, one associate, and one analyst haha. Also smallest bullpen ever...
did anybody actually bother to watch it before going on a crusade? clearly, the show has never claimed to represent the "true life" nor does it aim to do so. yes, the show exaggerates but isnt that the role of satire?
i actually enjoyed the show with its hints of realism:
"i just saw you alt-tab you little prick" "what is this shit, we are not fucking Raymond James. You are the in a BB now" "why are the numbers not fucking blue" "where did you get 6%? DCM. The DCM dont know what the fuck they are talking about okay?"
cmon guys give a try
Inept post-MBA Associate has existential meltdown when tasked with constructing a nested formula in Excel
Why does this warrant an entire season
It’s awful. I thought it would be like Suits but the acting, screenwriting, production, and storyline just suck. I expected more considering there are 6 13-minute episodes, so ideally the creators would have enough good writing to be able to make each episode watchable.
is it a great piece of theatre? No!
Did it have the budget or cast for one? No
Its just a low budget just for laughs thing. Get over yourself and laugh a little.
No one is seeing or expecting this to be depiction of mainstream banking but I def think people who have been part of the industry were consulted.
Deck on which the main character spent an all nighter being discarded without even being opened certainly brought back some memories
No one can deny that most jokes are real around what actually happens / what people think in the back (eg whys analyst not here and some VP stuck dealing w it, should I be in med school, wondering who should go to the free tickets games). It’s just banking people who made a joke show around if I could say what I meant. No one is trying to win an Emmy here

Just watched it.....it wasn't uh, that good?
When's season 2 coming out???
I read the comments here before watching but thought you guys were exaggerating. Watched the whole season (like an hour and a half) and it’s pretty bad. The main character has the personality of a mop - pretty much anything not including her was more interesting than anything she did.
I watehced the first season, the acting is cheesy as hell and its generally super corney. But there are extreme elemnts of PTSD and some funny anecdotes such as seeing "v3" on their computers, the excel shortcut references.
Other than that its complete satire, detached far far from reality...
Lol if I relate to this show because of the culture at my previous firm is that a bad sign?
Haha same here
Maybe the fact that it's so relatable makes it hard to watch? Or maybe it's the lackluster story line and character development? I will give it props that the analysts are funny but overall it's just bad acting.. however it's worth the binge given that each episode is like 10 minutes long.
