Burned out analyst looking to jump into Corporate

I’m a BA/Asc/AC at one of the MBBs approaching the end of my 2nd year at the firm, not based in the US. I never really enjoyed this job, but things have gone significantly downhill recently and I feel like I’m burning out: feelings of being under-appreciated, lack of motivation & enthusiasm, general exhaustion, hard time falling asleep, anxiety, irritability, negative emotions…they all check out. I don’t think I want to continue leading the consulting lifestyle for long and I’m not interested in pursuing an MBA due to personal reasons.

So I’ve been thinking about shifting into the corporate world, working in some strategy capacity at a F500 company. With some luck, I could land a post-MBA-equivalent role (i.e., a lateral promotion), work there 2/3 years and get a promotion to manager/vp. From the outside, it seems like a path that encompasses a career with room for growth and some personal life.

Has anyone else gone this alternative path? How did it turn out for you? Is the grass really greener on the other side?
