"business casual" at goldman?
I'm going to be a summer technology analyst at GS and was wondering what "business casual" at GS is. I've looked around online but can't really find what interns are expected to wear. Are shirts (no ties) and chinos enough? Or are they expecting dress pants, ties, and maybe a suit jacket? I'm a CS major so I don't really have experience with this lol. If it makes a difference, I'm going to be in finance and risk data engineering at the nyc office
Suit w/ no tie should work. I would think that tech is a little bit more relaxed.
I am starting there next month, in London. From my visits to the office, suit with no tie seems to be quite standard and acceptable. There are still some people with ties, so it probably depends on your group. I think chinos might be acceptable but I would wait to be safe; once you are there you will know.
In tech, especially, you'll see guys in chinos and button downs daily. Jeans sometimes as well. A suit with no tie and you'll be over dressed, though that's not necessarily a bad thing. But even the junior bankers at GS are often not in suits. Just have well fitting slacks and button down shirts, with dress shoes, and you'll fit right in.
Also, don't ever wear a tie with out a jacket/suit. Seriously, that looks like an awful prom picture.
