Business medicine, any other ideas?

During my shadowing experiences I realized I wanted to use my MD for more of the business side of medicine than clinical (owning/running hospitals, M&A'ing private specialty practices and other PE things). I'm currently in my last semester of undergrad as a Neurobiology major and will be taking a year off to try and at least get an internship somewhere in M&A or PE before beginning medical school.

I've read numerous posts about others attempting to enter business with biological science degrees and I've come up with a few ideas of my own on how to do this but I wanted some outside opinions and advice on how to increase my chances a little more. I was thinking about buying some financial modeling self-study books to learn some useful things like valuation, DCF's and lbo models and then using my schools alumni association to try and grab an interview somewhere.
(I eventually plan on going back to school for an MBA after I get my medical license but that is much further down the road) I do realize that getting into M&A or PE is already difficult even with a finance degree as an undergrad, let alone a biology degree. However, I'm hoping that my alumni association and your advice and ideas here can be a catalyst in helping me make my ideal career into a reality.

Any other ideas to help my cause would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

By the way, I will be graduating with a 3.8 (god willing) if this helps with giving me some advice...
