Business Week Vs. The Economist
I already have online access to the WSJ. I've noticed that business week posts some articles from their latest issue on Bloomberg, since Bloomberg bought the magazine a while back.
My subscription to business week just expired and I don't if I should renew or try something different. I've been reading business week for over three years now l and I don't have any complaints.
I'm a sophomore, if that matters at all..
Suggestions..
buy bweek as your school should have economist for sure
I prefer economist but as said above your school or a club might provide it for free. I don't know if you are gonna have time, or even efficient, to read both of them.
Businessweek occasionally writes interesting articles but The Economist is a weekly "one-stop-shop" for knowing what is actually going on in the world.
This is absolutely right. It's what Reader's Digest would be if it were written with people with brains as the target audience.
I think you should definitely give the Economist a shot. Hands down my favorite mag..
My daily/weekly reading: WSJ Zerohedge Economist NY Post
Thanks rothyman for the heads up on Zerohedge. I also like the WSJ, although I think that the Economist is a tad expensive. What about the FT?
FT is topnotch. IMO better than WSJ.
A former MD at JPM told me the FT and WSJ are the only things worth reading.
Economist, businessweek is a bit to narrow focused in my opinion
How in the hell is the economist narrow focused? It covers N. America, S. America, E. Europe, W. Europe, Middle East, Asia.
Not to mention it covers both Macro and Micro issues, commodities markets, equities markets, bond markets. Actually, I can't think of anything it doesn't cover.
I think CityRainMaker was saying choose the Economist, because BusinessWeek is too narrow. Which I also agree with for the reasons people have stated.
I have business week sub and Economist i prefer reading the Economist much more than the WSJ...So much information in it..
WSJ Economist theChive
I once got a good stock pick from BW once, but I'll try out the economist and see how that goes..
Thanks
I would suggest Economist and Institutional Investor, both are free online.
Economist is not free online, but for 5 free articles per week.
BusinessWeek has far more entertaining articles, and are very quick and easy reads. Economist is a bit heftier but definitely more intellectual.
Seems like people ignore Bloomberg Markets. Their readership is only 375000 subscribers, but it's more informative than BusinessWeek no? Thoughts?
