Can someone explain what these terms mean please. I've got a grad job at a big investment bank and figured this is something I should understand before I start.

Maybe you'll be shocked I landed the job w/o understanding what these terms mean! Don't be afraid to say if you're amazed I don't already know haha

Come on man... my MBA associates are pretty useless but they at least know how to use Google.

If he did, it confirms my suspicions of the standards used for MBA candidates...

I haven't done an MBA ... just an undergrad. Perhaps a US vs UK misunderstanding?

I suppose bulge bracket is the correct term ... it's pretty big regardless.
You could say I'm undeserving based on the fact that I don't care for or get excited by the terminology, but given that I haven't started ... there's more interesting things for me to concern myself with.

The sell side.... wait for it...... sells stuff (M&A advisory, research, trading execution, bespoke financial products, etc.) and the buy side buys stuff ( entire businesses, equity, debt, etc.)....
