Other things go into testosterone production as well, mainly sleep quality, diet, cortisol levels etc. You could probably pretty substantially increase your testosterone by getting into a better sleep schedule, eating healthier, and working out as you talk about here. Or you could do the opposite, tank your test, then go and try and get TRT

Ehhh quite of bit of misinformation here.

  1.  8 hours of sleep is a general baseline, but not necessarily optimal for all people. Some individuals may only get a marginal benefit from increasing their sleep from say 6hrs to 8hrs, others may see a noticeable difference in energy/mood.
  2. Big 3 lifts are quite efficient in terms of muscle stimulation, however the caveat here is that have to be programmed correctly. Heavy squats/deads are incredibly taxing on your CNS and if your goal is strength AND hypertrophy you will likely not be getting optimal stimulus if you are 1rm'ing ever session. Obviously an extreme example, but the only thing that really matters is volume and intensity - do whatever movements you want.
  3. The "machines are bad!!" argument is just so tired and wrong. If you are purely a powerlifter, then sure, hammer away at big 3 lifts. However its been proven over and over again that for muscle growth, there is no real difference in results with machines vs compounds. If adequate volume and intensity is applied, then you will experience growth regardless. The exercises are more so just a tool to get there. That being said, some compounds will work more than one muscle group at once and be more time efficient, but this is entirely dependent on your goals. Compounds are also great for building functional movement patterns, so can't really say anything bad about that. One is not better than the other. If you look at pro bodybuilders, you will see machine and isolation exercises galore. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve.
  4. No fap hasn't really been proven to do anything, more of an incel movement than anything else.

Also though deadlift and squats can be very bad for the untrained. Lots of people do these exercises so incorrectly that it can damage the spine and other body parts.

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

Looks like a big ole “ackshually” reply, tbh

- the point about 8 hours of sleep was to make sure you get adequate rest. No fucking duh it’s different for each person and not every person needs literally 8 hours of sleep

- Who the fuck is 1rm’ing every session?

- I said do machines AFTER compounds. This is WSO where dudes struggle to get laid, not bb.com

- There is a massive size difference in dudes at the gym who bench vs. those who skip bench and hit the pec deck only. Or those who squat vs. those that leg curl only

- bodybuilders use machines BECAUSE THEYRE ALREADY SWOLE. they can focus on isolation exercises for majority of their workout

- nofap was mentioned in jest. I’m no scientist, but watching porn all day is prob gonna make you more tired than you’d normally be, and not be able to lift as much

I've looked quite a bit into the factors impacting natural test production as well as used exogenous testosterone and other androgens. Dr. Andrew Huberman is a great source on natty test shit. He has a whole series of podcasts on hormones that aired sequentially about 6 months ago if anyone's curious. I wanted to comment on the nofap thing. There actually is a huge spike in test that occurs after something like 3 weeks of no ejaculation. I don't know how long it lasts or whether it's indefinite. But that's all ejaculation. So sex is included. So if your goal on nofap is to get to a place where you're having sex, I think it can be a great idea. But you have to continue not ejaculating, which seems really noncongruent with the type of guys who would care about their test levels to begin with.

As far as supps - The only "natural" shit I've found that actually works - outside of being high-normal in all your standard micronutrients and minerals - Fadogia Agrestis & Tongkat Ali

People who don't lift - or don't at least look like they do with a shirt on - should stop giving lifting advice on this forum. That's what /r/fitness is for.

Yes, lifting is good for test. Yes, barbells are king. Yes, learn to use them and to brace your core. Google "lifting valsalva maneuver." And nobody reading this is in any danger of overtraining. Stop this nonsense. People who overtrain are not on WSO talking about sparkling wine coolers.

Competition of any kind increases testosterone - BJJ, trading, video games...

Then all the boring stuff like eat a lot of meat, get good sleep, get some sunlight, get at least light aerobic activity

And we start to get esoteric after this.

If you're done having kids, and you do all this high-stress banker shit and live the lifestyle to match, you should really look into trt.

How does porn (without anything else) in any way effect testosterone?  It’s just looking at a screen.  Do you gain test by watching Arnold movies?

Don't know how anyone answered this question and recommended gear w/out asking how old OP was, or asking what his test levels actually are.  If OP is a HS or college kid, he's almost certainly producing more than enough test naturally and steroids are going to fuck up his natural production (i.e., will not be able to produce much naturally after getting off gear).

If you're eating a low fat diet, you actually can/will increase testosterone significantly by upping your fat intake.  If you're eating enough fat (~2/3 of a gram per lb of body weight), are living healthy lifestyle, are 25+, and actually have low testosterone, look into getting a prescription.
