Calculating cash returned from an IRR value?
When looking at cash flows I usually use XIRR(), but I'm working on a project where I want the IRR to be the independent variable and have the cash returned dependent, so that I can look at different cash returns on certain IRR values. Is there an Excel formula for something like this? Don't want to have it be trial and error, which is my last resort.
Wouldn't cash returned be 0 given that the IRR is the rate that makes NPV 0? Or are you comparing a single IRR to various discount rate estimates?
If you are comparing various discount rates to a single IRR, you can use the NPV at various discount rates.
Let me know if I am totally off track with what you're looking for.
