Can I ask my consultant for a reference?

I hired an admission consultant who worked in admissions at one of my target schools for several years. He just recently left. If he asked the officer handling my application to give it special attention, I would get in for sure. Is this an appropriate request, or is it taboo?

Wouldn't you want to get in on your own merits?

No. They are consultants, not lobbyists.

Probably not. Even if you could that would be an incredibly weak LOR considering you paid thousands of dollars to the consultant. It would be difficult for them to be unbiased. Admissions would probably just throw the letter out along with the rest of your application.
