Can i drop ap calculus bc in high school if i want to go into finance

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this. I'm a senior right now in calculus bc and considering dropping. I took calculus ab my junior year and am in bc my senior year. I was online junior year so ab was not as difficult but bc's really annoying and kicking my ass. I did not take the ap exam for ab last year because i knew i wouldnt pass. This was also one of the reasons i chose to do bc this year because i figured the credit would be useful in college.Would i look bad if i drop? I know for business theres business calculus in college and its not nearly as hard as bc but im not sure. I'm tryna go into finance and a lot of colleges on my list are reach business schools.

Edit : i decided to stick with it. Thanks for the input everyone

This decision will not impact your chances to break into finance. That said, setting the precedent of quitting when things get tough will impact you long-term. Take the class and do your best is my advice

Kids these days man. No, it won’t impact your chances or breaking into IB. I’ve seen many bankers who majored in non-finance, non-math majors in college (didn’t take anything beyond calculus in college) do just fine in banking.

Wait until you realize that IB only requires basic algebraic operations + a bit of stats.

As someone already mentioned, this is more of an attitude-related issue. Do you quit when things get tough?

Probably also think about where you want to go to college and if this would have an effect on your chances. Probably marginal but it’s not a great look if your transcript shows that your dropped BC. Looking at your profile though I don’t think you’re really angling for Wharton (you may be and apologies but top 40% I think would be an outlier candidate), so think about which business schools you are targeting and if they may care.

If you don’t think they care and you’re a shoe-in for the one you want to attend then screw it and drop!

Since you said your school ranks the top 10% only assuming you live in Texas (UT Schools have to accept top 10% I think??). I would honestly say that as of right now, I think you'd struggle to get into a target or semi-target either way. Not sure how UT Austin works if you're not in the top 10%. But honestly, I'm not here to chance you. You can transfer to a target later or whatever.

What I'm here to do is tell you to build character and do the thing that will help you grow long-term. Grow a fucking pair. Your schedule looks like a joke and I am sure you have plenty of extra time to put into learning BC Calc. It's not rocket science. It's just that math takes TIME to learn. All the kids doing better than you in BC are doing better because for the past 11 years, they simply spent more time doing math than you did. Honestly man, commit the time. Do well in BC. You will be proud of yourself and develop the right work ethic because honestly, your schedule and grades and ap exams look like someone who has only done the bare minimum to scrape by. People who build good habits will do better in the long run because it forms your character. This post might make me sound like a self-righteous parent. Let me clarify: I'm all for cheating on homework and getting answers from your friends and stuff sometimes, but for something as big as this, I would do the right thing.

Lmao wtf. AP Calc AB is the exact same as BC except that they throw in some extra topics at the end for BC. But this early in the year, it’s literally just a redo of AB and it should be like this for a while. If you took the AB class last year, this should be a breeze.

You got a 1560 on the SAT... you're smart enough to handle the course, but you're just too lazy to actually study. It's a good time to actually learn how to study because getting a good GPA in college is much harder than high school.
