Can I jump into investment banking without a MBA?
Can I jump into IB or any high paying finance job without a MBA after doing a couple of years in strategy at a F50? The group is quite prestigious (mainly hires HYP kids, everyone is a former ibanker at BBs) and the group works on models, mainly DCF and cash flow models.

Yes, it is possible to lateral at the Associate level from a good strategy group to a banking coverage group. I have seen this done plenty of times in the energy space, when someone working in corp strategy/dev in the oil and gas industry comes in as an experienced Associate without an MBA.
Interested in this as well. What type of bank (MM vs BB, etc) have you seen this happen at and how much deal experience did candidates have beforehand?
I have seen this at BBs and EBs in Houston. The guys I have seen do this had 3-5 years of industry experience to come in as an Associate, if you had 1-2 years I would guess they start you as an Analyst. Not sure their specific deal experience, just know they were in Corp strategy/dev groups at clients.
Not sure if this is unique to energy banking because of the value placed on industry knowledge or not.
