Can I put this on my resume?

Hi,

I have worked as an intern in a small search fund for the past months. It's run by two ex MBB managers with extensive experience and network in our countries PE business.

A few months ago I did target screening (my main task), I discovered an interesting firm and presented it to my boss. He really liked it an made me dig deeper. He decided that we had to start a process on this, but since the EV was 5x the EV we target he contacted some friends in a large PE firm. Short story they took over the transaction, used us for some part of the due diligence (I did interviews with competitors and customers, assessed value creation opportunities etc) and acquired the firm. The transaction got the full front page of the main business newspaper here. My boss actually tried to convince them to offer me an internship, but they prefer candidates with at least one internship in IB or MBB.

So my question is am I allowed/is it ok to somehow include this in my resume? I have some doubts due to the fact that they took over the transaction and I actually didn't work directly with them. My boss was at their offices often and gave me tasks the days I worked.

you are allowed to put everything on your resume you have worked on. so, yes. Within consultancies this question comes up a lot; how do candidates present the jobs they had with high-profile clients and market moving deals that were external? you can describe the situation as it happened and that you supported the transaction from an external point of view (were you in any legal way hired as advisors?)

Thanks!

As far as I understand my boss got paid for our services. I think they hired the firm as consultants (my boss did a lot of consulting for PE when he was in MBB).

Would it be safe to put: o Acquisition of leading construction company by leading PE fund  Discovered the firm and did the initial limited due diligence, we gave the transaction to a larger fund due to transaction size. Tasks: Interviewed competitors, market research, assessed value creation opportunities
