Can someone provide a write-up of a earnings track via IB into PE?

Looking for a simple write-up (if anyone has time) for kind of an ideal earnings track for an IB analyst who progresses into PE starting at say, 22/out of school? Like what would the earnings and ceiling likely be for someone in the most ideal circles? There was a write-up for this track but for someone moving from analyst, to associate, to VP, etc. before they turned 30. Looking for one but for PE?

So I'd guess IB analyst 1, 2, then into PE and where would they be and what would they be making by the time they were 30 assuming the rosiest track possible? $750k? $1MM? More?

23- $150k A1 (BB firm) 24- $185k A2 (BB firm) 25 - $275k associate 1 (MM/UMM PE) 26 - $325k associate 2 (MM/UMM PE) 27 - bschool 28 - bschool 29 - $800k vp ($1bn fund with some sort of carry) 300 - $800-1mil Vp ($1bn fund with some sort of carry)

Pay can def vary a lot starting from PE associate but this is sort of a “typical” pay scale imo

how are you getting at that 800k for the VP spot?

also isn't 2 years as an associate pretty rare? most funds require a 1 year as a senior associate I thought?

I'm putting in the comp report from GoBuyside (I know some people think it's controversial), but it can be a helpful data point for post-MBA comp.

You’re right I think it depends. Some shops do 2 years associate -> 2 years MBA then come back in as a VP since in fheory the 2 years had they not gotten their MBA they would be senior associates.

Also the $800k might be in the highside but I wouldnt say its totally off with carry but my knowledge spans to MBA so perhaps someone else can chime in
