Can someone shed more light on Structured Finance/Derivatives groups?
Since there are currently a lot of articles circling around in the news about CLO's/CDO's and derivatives trades going bad/wrong, I was wondering if some of the monkeys out here can shed some light on these topics, especially:
- Which groups at banks/funds make derivatives/CDO's/CLO's and or related products?
- Who are the top players in the field?
- What is a common background for someone in those groups?
- Is it quant heavy work or is a large part automated?
- Is there a lot of innovation with structured/derivatives products?
- Any source you would recommend to get update and follow the field?
I am currently in possession of "Options, Futures, and Other Derivatives" by John C. Hull but if you have additional literature that you would recommend, it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers & stay safe everybody
