Canada/Toronto - COVID Life?

Didn't come across anything via search and googling just led to gov't sites suggesting social distancing in common areas, etc.  How is Toronto currently faring in terms of restrictions?  I ask as I'm considering roles there and/or a trip soon.  I'm currently stationed in the US and fully vaccinated (let the boos rain down).  Overall, it seemed like Ontario was prison a few months ago based on sentiment from connections there but I'm curious how it's been this summer.  I'm sure it will clamp down again as more figures come out on delta but how is it these days?

Canada had the strictest lockdowns in the western world that also happened to last the longest. I also heard they aren't fully open yet. We all know there is a fourth wave coming, and COVID will probably be part of out life for many more years. I would stay as far away from Canada as I could, I love skiing there, but will have to settle for Jackson Hole and Park City.

I am not in Toronto, so most of my observations are from colleagues and family in Ontario.

Most COVID restrictions have been lifted or relaxed, with Ontario being one of the slowest provinces to lift restrictions. There are still capacity limits on most indoor activities (gyms, movie theatres, retail, etc.). Positively, most of the travel restrictions entering Canada have been lifted as of Monday for vaccinated Canadians and Americans (e.g., no more hotel quarantine and no 14 day home quarantine), but you still need a negative test.

You will find that the Canadian banks are taking a more conservative return to office approach (most are still work from home or not full capacity in office). I suspect that it will be September or October before you have a material number of people back in office all or most of the time (and this would be contingent to an extent on how cases numbers track until then). Cases have gone back up, but there doesn't seem to be appetite to re-impose restrictions yet. This could be because Ontario is tracking towards relatively high vaccination levels (almost 80% of eligible people have at least 1 dose and almost 75% have both doses).

With fewer people in the office all or most of the time, Toronto is less busy and vibrant than it would be typically, but then again things slow down a bit in summer anyway as people head out to cottages or on other vacations.
