If you left a voicemail, I would give it a few days before trying again. He is undoubtedly very busy and pestering him with constant calls is a sure fire way to get on his bad side. Many businesspeople just don't answer random numbers, but they will listen to a voicemail if you leave one. Give him some more time if this is only the first time you have tried to contact him.

Dude, he's an MD. You're probably at the bottom of his list. You should have a) called him ONCE and no voicemail. Wait two days then b) call him again and LEAVE a voicemail this time. Then 3) wait a week after you called him and send him a voicemail. 4)If no answer after a week from the email, get his office address, pay for some good looking stationary with your details on it, and mail him a quick note inquiring about your status...

What you should do is call, leave a voicemail telling who you are, why you are calling, and how to reach you, and finish that you will try again tomorrow. Then try again tomorrow. Then in a couple of more days with another voice mail. If after all these efforts he hasn't talked to you, he probably doesn't want to. Make sure you update the CEO of your difficulty reaching the MD, so that he doesn't think you forgot to call, but other than that go on with your life.
