Capital Group CAP Associate Program?
Recently came across their global rotation program. It's 3-year program within their research/other operational/4 month of non-profit work.
Seems it used to be TAP but changed the name a few years ago. Did a LinkedIn search and seems attracting very intelligent people mostly from target school + even those who were already working full time at reputable banks.
I know Cap Group is very well respected in LO community, but what’s your take on this program?
It seems like they promote Cap Associate to analyst (not associate) after the rotation, but have no data on promotion rate, comps, what’s the exit if not promoted etc. IMO, rotating in operational role doesn’t sound ideal for other research role.
Thanks.
Extremely selective and difficult to get into. Absolutely brutal vetting process. They promote a few associates annually but you can't count on that, because in the AM realm there's no symmetry regarding juniors - they're pretty much disposable.
I'm not quite sure how much they pay, but their counterparts do pay very well (100-150k all in). Good culture, they take care of their employees and teach them a lot - but point still stands, it's insanely difficult to get in. You have to possess what it takes to be an investor and gain their trust. My suggestion would be you speak to an associate, they're usually not douchy, unlike bankers
Check LinkedIn again and try to spot a common denominator among those who were promoted.
Thanks for the reply. What I heard from their event was CAP associate which is three years old (so I think even the first-class haven't been promoted yet), is recruited to be their analyst, not associate after the program. Heard standard research associates to analyst promotion internally is nearly impossible tho
Smooth slipping in a jab on bankers right there. Solid :D
How do you even get an interview for this program? I’ve reached out to a bunch of CAP associates without getting an email response from anyone so I feel like networking in is next to impossible.
For more background I have good internship experience, come from a good school, and have tailored every outreach to be personal.
According to the recruiters/capital associates I have spoken to there is a 0% chance of being promoted following the program, you are forced out to either go get an MBA, or go to another fund. Reason being is their "Analyst" level (above associate for Capital) actually manage ~20% of capital in portfolios. It is more of an associate PM/Analyst role than a traditional analyst role.
That said, Capital is a top name in AM and you will have no problem finding another role, and they actively look for top performers to return after more experience.
Thank you for your reply. It isn't very clear because it's the opposite of what I've heard from their recruiter.
When you referred capital associates, did you mean by research associates in their fundamental research team? I know it's a 0% chance for them to be analyst, but heard CAP Associate program might be different.
I saw multiple analysts started from TAP Associate Program, which now is CAP Associate, and was wondering if the dynamic has changed.
I was referring to the Research Associates
Xx
bump
Anyone heard back after applying/ any colour on what the process looks like?
Anyone hear back from them for 2022 CAP program?
OP here, the official application for summer program closed on Oct 15th, so we probably have to wait for more time IMO
Any interview sent for grad roles?
Anyone else received first-round digital interview?
Can only speak for post MBA- Capital is arguably the most coveted investing seat out there, period.
Even if they only promote a minority of their RAs to investment analysts, I would still take the offer in a heart beat. Grind your ass off and who knows. Worst comes to worst you head to b-school or another top investment firm. Can think of worse risk/rewards
any idea with rough numbers on what post-MBA compensation looks like? How does the progression look over time after 5 / 10 years?
~$350K out the gate. Obviously a lot of considerations (AUM, sector, performance), but ballpark think of it as mid-to-high six figs within a few years, should get to low seven figures in 5-10
Any insight into the associate -> analyst promotion rate? Have heard it's maybe around 33%?
anyone received offer from CAP 2022 yet?
Did you apply for the summer program or full-time?
FT, i havent heard back from them yet, how about you?
Are you based in london? Also waiting
I applied for the Asia cohort
I havr emailee their HR and they got back to me
What did they say?
it was really more behavioural, but they are really pushy and dont take the rehearsed answers.
ehat are u great at/ what do u suck at

Anyone heard back after the 1st round digital interview for the summer program (US office)?
