Career change - Job opportunity came up

Hey everybody,
I need some quick advice. I may have a job opportunity come up at the same company for either retail banking(Atlanta) or back office in the IB branch(Chicago). I was wondering what would be better in the long run as far as jumping into PE at a later date. While I'm sure most monkeys would say its a no brainer, the more subtle question is about the stigma attached to retail banking. Do MD's just toss aside résumés with retail banking experience? If they do, what lateral move/transfer do you get to try to make it in PE?

Also, this is a career change for me as I have been working in retail since I graduated in 06. Thoughts?

Thanks
