Career change from tech entrepreneur to trader
Hi all,
Im 36 and making a change from working in technology business as a founder and investor to intraday trading. I have traded on and off for the past 6 years. Spread-betting, intraday trading, equities investing.
I left a boring startup I was with about 6 months ago and took a 9 week training course with a great prop trading firm in London.
I got to learn a huge amoutn on fundamentals and a few strategies. So far, I have not been able to get 10-20k together to open my own futures broker and trading account and I also feel I need about 400 more hours learning in order to improve my risk reward ratio. I only had 2 weeks live cash with the last trading firm and my win ratio went down for the those 2 weeks with a a very tight risk on losses for any one trade.
Im looking to get a traineeship in a prop firm here in Dublin to further my knowledge and become a better trader.
As Im 36 I feel like I'm sort of over the hill in the eyes of some of these firms. Would that be the case?
I don't have a financial background or economics degree or higher maths related education.
I currently have about a 58% win rate on my trades with an average RR ratio of 1:3
Any advice would be appreciated. Im currently living in Dublin, Ireland.
Best
Tim
