Career Growth and Exit Opportunities - Public Finance
Hello everybody,
This is my first post here on these forums! I'm a junior analyst at a public finance boutique, and while I enjoy my job, I sometimes find myself thinking about the future several years down the line. I realize that public finance is somewhat of a separate world within the investment banking community, and that has left me with a few questions.
Is it common for people to make the jump from public finance into other sectors within investment banking or financial services in general? It seems to me that a lot of people in municipals have been in this industry their whole career. If anyone has made the jump from public finance into some other area, I would greatly appreciate hearing their story (i.e. where you ended up, whether any of your skills translated and whether leaving for an MBA was necessary to make the transition).
Thanks!
