career options for those who missed out on IB

I am a Duke MBA 2010. Did 2 internships - 1) Tiny Boutique investment bank in East, 2) Private Debt/Equity firm in mid-west.

Pre-MBA 8 yrs in Technology Consulting at IBM Global Svcs and CSC.

Wanted to pursue IB but the current scenario is such that....getting into IB is ?????

Even Equity Research is screwed up right now.

What are my alternatives for a more rewarding (money, prestige) career ?

(Currently working for a small tech consulting firm in mid-west.)

I'm afraid that once you are done with OCR, your chances of getting into banking are severely limited, especially after entering the tech consulting firm. I don't look down on it, but you will have to convince many cuntbags that you really are interested in banking (your lack of a full time job in ibanking and move towards tech consulting is a negative to them unfortunately). They want people who are young, fresh and super-social. You might fit all those criteria, but your non-traditionalness really will be looked down upon by the elite players.

Its just the way things are, once you screw up the few chances available to join the global elite by means of working in their banks, you are left in the middle of nowhere, dreaming of what your life would have been had you gotten into banking when you were younger. Its fine to follow the path of getting into banking through "non traditional" routes, but it will only get you labelled a "pipe dreamer" "dreamer" and/or some type of loser trying to increase his social mobility (they look down on people of that stature for wanting to do this), just don't expect to get the respect of such individuals, they are too good for us.

Entertaining.
