Career path question in WS banks - question
I'm working now in IT for a credit card processing company and am applying for a product/project management position in a WS bank, but in my current company, a vice president is in charge of directors and 200+ people, meaning that a VP there is almost the big kahuna (then you'll find a SVP, CTO and CEO going upwards).
My impression is that at banks such as GS, MS and Chase, VP reports to Directors. I would appreciate getting some clarity here regarding what's the practice in the companies I mentioned regarding career path: Is it associate vp > vp > director? Does it vary depending on the area (IT, product management, business development, trading, etc).
Thanks!
Its goes VP>SVP,Director, or Exec. Director (Different banks have different names>>Managing Director
Managing Director is the top rank, but then there are other positions like being on the management committee. The CEO is a Managing Director. GS has an additional level above MD called Partner Managing Director.
