Career paths for asset management
What are the popular career paths for getting a senior position at an investment management firm?
I'm 18 and an outsider to finance in the sense that I know nobody in the industry and so, whilst I've read and learnt about finance online, I'm quite unfamiliar with the actual industry/employment side of things. Many college students seem to obsess about landing a job in investment banking and quite a few asset managers I've looked into previously worked in investment banking so is IB the route to get into AM or are there other routes too?
