Carlyle internal referral network - had a call with an MD who set up a call with a hiring principal - what to expect?

Title says it all. Had a call with an MD who said he didn't coordinate hiring but he'd put me in touch with a principal who did. Now I have a call with a principal and not sure what to expect. I realize it's not on cycle. Could be a call to set up something FOR on cycle? I'm a 2nd year analyst who missed recruiting last year if it's helpful.
