CBS vs. Kellogg vs. Darden for Deferred Admissions
I was admitted to CBS, Kellogg, and Darden for the deferred admissions program. My pre-MBA career is going to be in econ consulting and I hope to pivot to MBB + T2 consulting shops preferably in the Northeast or West Coast after the MBA program.
Would love to hear people's opinions on this! Since I just graduated, I'm aware that my career goals may change so greater career flexibility (except IB - already done it and did not like it) is also a big consideration!
Darden is a great school but unless you have personal reasons to attend, it's generally considered a tier below CBS and Kellogg. Probably splitting hairs between Kellogg and CBS - would you rather be in Evanston or in the middle of NYC? People are going to come on here and say if you want to do consulting go to Kellogg but I'm not sure it's that straightforward. You should be in a good position to get MBB/T2 at either place with a background in econ consulting.
Thanks! Are there any differences in tech placement?
For the PM type roles at Google, Amazon, etc, Kellogg does very well. I would say consulting and tech PM roles are probably Kellogg's biggest strength. That's not to say you can't get into those roles from CBS, and you certainly can (consulting even more so), but there is more of an overall finance focus at CBS compared with Kellogg.
