CEO.
At a target school and emailed an alum who is very high up at a BB (CEO, head of division type). Amazingly he replied and suggested I speak with a CCed MD/VP who may have more relevant career advice. I'll probably never have the chance to talk to this alum again so i'm going to reply asking for some of this time too.
Question is, if he says ok, what questions do I ask him? This isn't the typical convo with an industry or product alum...guessing I should focus more on the lesson he's learned in his career, rather than try to sell myself? Any thoughts on some good questions?

If he already directed you elsewhere, don't ask him for some of his time. He has been very helpful to you, so I wouldn't push your luck on this one. The MDs and VPs will be equally valuable to you.

got it. my thinking was that i'll never have the chance to talk to the big shot again, so i should take my chances. no? do i just take what i'm given and be happy he even replied?
yeah..be happy he replied and referred you to someone. Don't keep bugging him 'coz you might end up pissing him off and losing the referral as well.
I agree. If in his reply he suggested you talk to a MD/VP, he is politely trying to direct your questions/talk/etc. to someone else. I would just respond with cordial email thanking him.
