CFA First - then MBA? One vs other? Or neither?
So I will be relocating to Frankfurt next year (work for a MM IB) and am currently studying for my CFA. I am waiting to take the exam until July at the earliest since my firm is picking up the tab for the cost of each level.
I am looking to step into Asset Management most likely.. not sure on IB or not. Yesterday I spoke with an Executive Director and all he really cared about is if I truly knew my way around a financial model. I did extensive modeling for real estate development projects and am now taking the FMVA to get that certification in the mean time. Mainly been trying to get my foot in the door at the bank I currently work for to step into their AM side (looking at buying infrastructure businesses, utilities, etc for our own balance sheet).
I currently have a degree in Finance from a non-target, and have an extensive accounting background. After the FMVA course would it be worth continuing on with the CFA (being paid for) and then the Frankfurt School of Finance MBA (Full time, $50K+)?
Also, regarding the financial modeling - I currently am enrolled in the Wall Street Oasis “Elite Modeling Course”. But I think I’m going to go ahead and go for the FMVA too for the certification?
Thanks!
