CFA Level 1 Senior Year of College - Overkill or Not?
A professor of mine is opening up his own CFA sessions next year for rising seniors interested in becoming a CFA. It's once a week 1-2 hours long. His pass rate for students who attend is 50-70%.
I'm pretty set on pursuing a career in the buyside issue is I come from an extreme non-target. Great GPA (3.7) and relevant internships though, I feel like the CFA will help a ton although this will only be a level 1.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Since you emphasized that you are from an extreme non target, no, nothing is overkill at that point. Realistically though - you might as well take advantage of it. I wish I had knocked out Level 1 as early as possible - you simply have more time, mind is used to studying, etc.
I don’t think it’s overkill. I did L1 and 2 while doing an MBA and I’d say it was easier than L3 while working… you’re already in the school mindset and work is more taxing than school anyway.
Also from an extreme non-target. Just graduated and took L1. Not overkill.
you are much better off building concrete technical skills, juicing your GPA as high as possible than doing CFA senior year.
Having just registered for CFA L1 helped me immensely during my senior year FT interviews. If you can make the time for it, I would recommend
