Chances in Investment Banking after completing a Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program?
As an aspirant investment banker, my intention is to acquire high-quality work experience to strengthen my prospects of entry into a reputable M7 MBA program. I majored in Economics, as an undergraduate from a top-30 university in the U.S, and I have yet to sit the GMAT. Upon graduating from university, I interned at various investment banking firms in hopes to secure a full-time job offer; however, before I was even able to take any initiative, I was accepted into a Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical program at an Ivy League university. Thus far, I have completed the required science coursework for medical school; however, I am starting to question my future in such a profession, i.e. years of schooling, and residency, and non-dischargeable debt are all hurdles that I would have to overcome before I start to make real money as a doctor. Hence, I am strongly considering to reenter finance; however, what are my chances of landing an investment banking analyst role at this stage? I know that I will need to acquire full-time work experience before I even start to entertain the option of Business School, and I will need to work at a bulge-bracket firm to secure admission at an M7 MBA program. Would I be able to leverage the reputation and clout of my university to network my way into banking? Will my pre-medical coursework speak any volume on my resume? Would I have any chance at a Bulge Bracket firm after completing pre-medical coursework at an Ivy League University? If not, what would be the best strategy to break into banking at this stage?
Please do not dispraise me if any words of encouragement cannot be offered.
Any feedback would be much obliged.
Had an alum who did premed+ med school for like 2 yrs, then went back for mba and went to a EB for healthcare banking. So med experience is useful and helpful.
